Our first Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, a 7-year-old male named Vasco de la Reote, came to us through the American Wirehaired Pointing Griffon Association rescue program in 2008.
In 2011, we decided we wanted a Griff puppy and began the search for the right breeder.
When we saw a photograph of Larry Woodward and the 3 Griffs he had just handled to their Versatile Championships on the cover of the NAVHDA magazine, we called him. We liked what we heard, sent a deposit, and waited a year for our puppy to arrive. We made the 1700-mile round trip from Wyoming to Kansas to pick up our girl in 2012. We were very fortunate to meet Larry and Paula Woodward, who became dear friends and mentors, always willing to share their knowledge and experience with us. We brought our sweet girl, Jessie, home, and, in spite of our inexperience, she passed her NA test, and earned an AKC championship and JH title. Sadly, she crossed the Rainbow Bridge in 2019. We miss her every day.
We currently share our home with three beautiful Griffs, including Hula, the puppy we kept from our 2017 Goin' Coastal litter. We also have Hula's mama, ZZ, who is 5, and Blanche, who is 4.
We strongly support and participate in NAVHDA training and testing. We encourage our puppy buyers to get involved with their local chapters.
The Natural Ability Test evaluates the natural hunting ability of pups under 16 months of age. Judges look for a pup's ability to use its nose, search, point, track, and swim, as well as its desire to work and cooperation.
We were founding members of the Black Hills Chapter of NAVHDA, training and testing primarily near Sundance, Wyoming. 2021 is our chapter's third year!
NAVHDA training days help members and their dogs work toward their goals.
We think it's important and fun to show our dogs in conformation. It's a great opportunity to spend time with other Griffs and Griff lovers.
ZZ Top loves the water. Swimming, boating, dock diving, or hitching a ride on the kayak - she loves it all, and so do we.
