We planned a lovely winter litter and were very happy with the prospective sire we selected, but ZZ didn't become pregnant after the breeding. Testing of the male afterward determined that he was no longer viable as a sire.
So now, rather than a winter litter and a summer litter, we are planning two summer litters this year. Double the fun!
The search for the sires is underway.
Blanche will be bred in May of 2021 for a July litter.
We are proud members of the American Wirehaired Pointing Griffon Association. To introduce our puppy buyers to the benefits of the club, we will pay for their membership for one year. You'll receive our beautiful magazine, The Griffonnier, and be kept informed of news and events, like the field clinic at the 2019 National Specialty in Idaho.
We are big proponents of NAVHDA, and want to encourage our puppy buyers to get involved with their local chapters and test their pups. It's lots of fun and so important to keep the hunt in our breed. We recognize that the investment of time and money in training and testing is significant, so we offer $150.00 to pups who earn an NA prize.
We were honored to whelp the Aux Lake "Z" litter at our home in Wyoming. Lovely mama Belle delivered 9 beautiful puppies into our hands in October of 2016. Giving the a good start in life was a great experience.
This is an example of a barrier challenge. The puppies climbed out of the whelping box to reach their mother!
When the pups became more active, they moved into the puppy pen in the center of our living room. They became accustomed to all the activity that goes on in a family home.
Lots of people came to visit the pups. We were never more popular than when we had nine little bundles of puppy joy in the house!
We went through several tunnels and learned tunnels are great for chasing brothers and sisters through, rolling, and a cozy spot for naps.
Puppies were exposed to the nail grinder and to being brushed and groomed.
We plan to produce one or two litters of outstanding quality puppies per year, keeping in mind that as much as we love to hunt and enjoy showing and other canine activities, our dogs are first and foremost members of the family. We are particular about the homes which welcome our puppies and we don't apologize for it. As excited as prospective puppy buyers are about adding a puppy to the family, we are even more excited because we've been planning the litter for years.
We own only bitches and when we select sires for our litters, we want the total package - great looking dogs who hunt and have correct conformation to do their job as hunters. Most of all, we use sires who have the kind of temperaments that we'd love to have at home!
We believe in the benefits of Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS,) a program developed for military K9s, and perform the exercises with each pup according to the protocol, from day 3 to day 16.
We adhere to the Puppy Culture method of raising puppies to be confident enrichment seekers, taking advantage of their remarkable ability to learn during early puppyhood. The proof is in the puppies!
Griffs are not suited to kennel living. They thrive when living in the house as members of the family. We do not place puppies in homes where they will be "outside dogs." A secure fenced yard is also a requirement.
Wirehaired Pointing Griffons are hunting dogs. It is, quite literally, in their DNA. We do not place puppies in non-hunting homes. Hunt testing is also a way in which we measure the success of our breeding program. We are dedicated to keeping the hunt in our hunting dogs!
We don't ship puppies. Puppies must be picked up from us at our home in northeastern Wyoming. The puppies' health and safety is our greatest concern.
